What
happens when the dead won't stay dead?
Freed
from his burial tomb after decades of death, archeologist Marshall
VanderGott awakens to a world he does not recognize.
Although he's been deceased for nearly 70 years, Marshall finds
himself imbued with newfound strength and stamina, and is ready
to join the land of the living. But rather than fight crime
or do something similarly unselfish, Marshall decides to lead
"the normal life." He soon falls in love.
Things go well until a terrible secret from Marshall's past
resurfacesthe ancient Curse of the Mummiesand torments
Marshall and those he loves in ways both horrifying and fatal.
The
dead never rest.
The
story is by Buddy Scalera,
former writer of Marvel Comics' Deadpool.
His co-writer is the mysterious M. Swank.
Pat
Quinn supplies the interior art. His pencils have
appeared in Gen13, Writers Bloc and other comics.

"Necrotic...always
staying on the right side of the wrap, this is a
solidly written, self-contained story with mainstream-quality
art..."

"Deadpool
#56...I have to admit I've
been pleasantly surprised by the way Scalera's turned
things around these last few issues....This final
issue is easily better than Kelly's last issue....It's
a great goodbye, with Wade uttering what must be
his perfect closing line on the last page. Scalera
has a nice variety of wisecracks, slapstickand black
humor going on here, all of which issupported nicely
by the clean work of Karl Kerschl (art) and Tom
Chu (colors). Let's hope it doesn't take Buddy too
long to find a new book where he can hone his repertoire.
It's sad to see a writer taken off a book he was
good for, especially just when he seemed to be getting
into the swing of things."

"Deadpool
#56...This month's Deadpool is, without a doubt,
the best single issue of the series since Christopher
Priest was drummed out of the title's good graces.
The merc with a mouth cracks jokes, mimics the old
Coyote-and-Roadrunner routine with fairly amusing
results and things blow up real good."

you did just that."
