SCALERA TO WRITE DECOY MINI SERIES

 Former
Deadpool writer Buddy Scalera will write the “Decoy:
Storm of the Century” 4-issue mini series for Penny
Farthing Press, which begins shipping July 2002. Interiors
will be by series creator Courtney Huddleston and covers
will be painted by WildStorm artist Joe Chiodo.
People
interested in reading this insanely funny series should
talk to their retailer now about getting a copy. This
series will be difficult to find in stores that typically
do not carry independent comics.
The full color mini series marks a new, slightly darker
direction for Decoy. Huddleston has written and drawn
all seven issues and a trade paperback of Decoy since
1999.
“I
liked the freedom that Penny Farthing gave me on Decoy,”
explains Scalera. “It’s a fun story about a
little green space creature that manages to make you laugh,
cry, and be scared all in the same story.”
Scalera
wrote and co-wrote 10 popular issues of Marvel Comics’
Deadpool. His work also appears in X-Men Millennial Visions,
Marvel Knights Millennial Visions, Marvel Millennial Visions,
and X-Men Unlimited. Scalera also has written portions
of the recently announced Weapon X project. Scalera also
self-published the horror title Necrotic: Dead Flesh on
a Living Body through After Hours Press.
Scalera
recently solicited the new CD-ROM “Visual Reference
for Comic Artists,” which will ship through Diamond
in late August.
 Huddleston
continues to draw all interior pages of Decoy, but has
tapped into the legendary talent of Joe Chiodo for covers.
Chiodo is recognized for his stunning painting achievements
for Marvel and WildStorm.
Each
issue will feature a gatefold cover by Chiodo. The inside
gatefolds will have bonus art by other creators, including
Violent Messiahs artist Tone Rodriguez.
New readers jumping on to Decoy for the first time will
be treated to a five to seven page backup story each issue,
designed to recap early Decoy adventures and origin.
Decoy: Storm of the Century will be distributed through
Diamond Comics Distribution and other direct-market channels
to comic book stores.
